Small Mahogany Lady's Desk, Napoleon III Period – Part 2 Of The 19th Century
This small mahogany lady's desk, dating from the second half of the 19th century during the Napoleon III era, is an elegant piece designed with great attention to detail. The curved top is covered in new black leather with a gilded vignette, surrounded by a ribbed ingot mold that emphasizes its contour. Just below, a large central drawer decorated with foliate rods and brass marquetry representing plant scrolls, opens with an ornate key and a functional lock. The upper part of the desk is surmounted by a small beveled mirror, topped with a shelf with an openwork gallery. On each side, two small drawers with gilt bronze handles in the shape of acanthus leaves complete the ensemble. They are also topped with openwork galleries. Brass fillets and decorative friezes emphasize the contours of the mirror and drawers. The very curved legs of the furniture are decorated with superb gilt bronze falls and end with plant ornamentation. This desk is a rare piece, a testament to French know-how, evoking refinement and preciousness. *********Period: 2nd part of the 19th centuryPerfect condition following the Restoration in our workshop.Finish: waxed on a hard base.Delivery on quote in France and internationallyDimensions:Width: 84 cmDepth: 59 cmHeight: 117 cmReference: 335V Bis
