"Louis XV Desk From The First Half Of The 19th Century"
An impressive five-drawer Louis XV-style desk from the first half of the 19th century, entirely veneered in rosewood, with double-sided movement on all sides, both horizontally and vertically, typical of the Louis XV style. It features a contoured writing surface upholstered in original period black leather. It is enhanced by beautiful gilded bronze fittings throughout and embellished on both sides by two elegant porcelain plaques stamped on the back (see photo). These are not very legible but appear to be by Jacob Petit. They are decorated with a floral motif on a white background, surrounded by a raised gold border and an external blue border typical of porcelain from the period.
