Large oil on canvas, Genre scene. Period second half of the 18th century. Follower of Joseph Francis NOLLEKENS (1702-1748). Reprise of the painting entitled "Children playing with a warhorse". The scene represents young people busy entertaining two children, one playing at being scary with a mask and the other pulling a horse-drawn cart on wheels. Joseph Frans Nollekens was a Flemish painter mainly active in England. He painted conversation pieces, gallant companies and country parties in the style of Watteau, genre scenes as well as portraits. Painting relined. 20th century regilded wooden frame.
