Slightly oval rug: 222 cm x 215 cm, hand-knotted wool, of very good quality, circa 1950/1960.
On a powerful red background, golden acanthus leaves come alive, bordered by a frieze of neo-classical oves and darts.
Thick, heavy and dense, it is soft underfoot and is edged on the periphery of the reverse (some stitches to be reviewed in places). This rug has been cleaned by a specialist company, it is in very good condition and ready to take its place in a living room or a lounge.
It has no stains, burns or tears, just some wear on the edges (see photos).
