In 1968, Richard received the Grand Prix International de Peinture. A self-taught artist with a very personal style, Richard Durango-Togo paints shadows and lights often juxtaposed, creating a mysterious atmosphere. Richard's "Nudes" do not shock the eye, which retains only refinement and elegance. A prolific painter, he created oils representing gypsy dances and musical scenes, market scenes, etc. Portraits of women wearing hats, nudes and still lifes in bright colors. Richard's works are present in collections in France, Italy, England, the United States, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
