The wings and the abdomen are entirely set with half fine pearls, two of which are larger. The thorax is set with an oval tiger's eye cabochon, two small round cabochons recall it on two of the wings.
The eye is set with a round garnet-colored cabochon.
The insect being represented in flight and in profile, it has three silver legs completing its naturalistic appearance. It seems that we can identify its species as the long-horned antlion, but it could also be a kind of dragonfly! In silver gilt on the back, without mark or hallmark, it has been tested silver with the touchstone.
