Titulus Crucis Jesus Of Nazareth King Of Jews” , C19th Sacred Christian Crucifixion Reliquary

finely made replica of the Titulus Crucis, the trilingual inscription traditionally believed to have been placed above Christ during the Crucifixion. The wooden plaque bears the phrase “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews” in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin, closely following the form and lettering of the relic preserved in Rome at the Basilica di Santa Croce in Gerusalemme.

This devotional 19th-century reliquary reproduction was likely intended for a church, chapel, or private oratory. The front surface shows an intentionally aged patina with crackle glaze and traces of gilt, while the reverse retains its old blackened coating with a projecting nail point. A corroded nail head remains fixed at the centre, evoking the sacred symbolism of the Passion.

Dimensions: 44 × 21.5 cm

Condition: Surface wear, small losses, and craquelure consistent with age and devotional handling.
