Important Arte Povera Chest Of Drawers, Southern France, Circa 1740
Three-drawer body, curved on all sides, resting on scrolled feet. Decorative gilt engraved on the corners. White lacquer on the drawers with applied scenes, partly decorated with figures. The body is in the Languedoc or Bordeaux style. Thanks to itinerant painters from Italy, a limited production of this type of Italian decoration was established in the south of France during the first half of the 18th century. Furniture of this type is extremely rare.
