Variable Angle Prism, Circa 1880
Artist: Inconnu
"A prismatic tank formed by two parallel copper plates fixed on a foot. Between these plates, two frames formed by glass blades can move around two horizontal hinges. Water or any other transparent liquid is poured into this tank. A light ray is brought to one of the faces, leaving the latter immobile to maintain the incidence, the exit face is inclined more and more widely, the angle of the prism increases, and the deviation of the emerging light ray increases. For prisms of the same nature and for the same incidence, the deviation increases with the angle of the prism." (See The Empire of Physics No. 151) 34cm high.
