"Ghent 1787, Stew Spoon, Solid Silver, Petrus Josephus Dupret Gent Zilver "
Very beautiful Louis XVI period stew spoon in solid silver. It is in perfect condition and its four hallmarks are perfectly legible. Armor helmet and crowned G for the city of Ghent, crowned 87 for the year and a crowned capital D for the goldsmith Pierre Joseph Dupret, originally from Ath but admitted to the mastery of the city of Ghent in 1767. Uniquely, the Bijloke Museum still has the preparatory drawing of the coffee pot that he created and manufactured to be received into the corporation of master goldsmiths of Ghent. It is a magnificent tripod jug with a twisted body. I added the photo to the file for the pleasure of the eyes. Pieces by this goldsmith can be found in several museum collections in Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels.
