"Anthropomorphic Lamp By Albert Tormos, Circa 1974"
Anthropomorphic sculptural lamp made by Albert Tormos in cream-colored Gard stone, circa 1974. In the 1970s, Albert Tormos developed a unique visual language around Gard stone, which he hand-carved to reveal its primitive power. His lamps, halfway between sculpture and utilitarian object, evoke archaic presences, imbued with spirituality and silence. This model features a single light source integrated into the top of the head, diffusing a soft brightness that emphasizes the volumes and roughness of the stone. The lighting seems to animate the material, giving the figure an almost ritual character.
