Superb frosted glass wine carafe, elegantly curved with four sides, enhanced by its finely chiseled silver frame. The elongated neck ends in a domed lid articulated by a discreet hinge. The rich ornamentation, composed of vine branches and leaves and their fruits, extends harmoniously onto the handle, giving the whole a decorative unity of great finesse. The latter is equipped with a push bar in its center, lifting the lid of the carafe with a simple pressure. (which would justify the presence of the Fabergé hallmark, this model of ewer or carafe made by Tegelsen is not known with this system possibly installed later in the Fabergé workshops at the request of the owner). assay master: Cyrillic DT for Dmitry Tverskoy Goldsmith's hallmark; Latin CT for Carl Tegelsten This carafe bears the mark of Carl Johann Tegelsten (1798–1852), Russian master goldsmith and bronzesmith of Finnish origin. Having become a master in Saint Petersburg in 1825, Carl-Johan Tegelsten worked throughout his career exclusively for the imperial court of Russia. He produced most of the goldsmith pieces for the table service of Emperor Nicholas I, and for his daughters: Grand Duchess Olga Nicolaevna, Queen of Württemberg (1822-1892) and Grand Duchess Alexandra Nicolaevna (1825-1844), Height: 28.5 cm. Total weight: 1265 gr. A tiny chip on the glass of the lid, excellent condition
