Student of Bourdelle, he took classes at the Ecole des Beaux Arts then began his career as a painter in 1900 following a first purchase from the dealer Ambroise Vollard. He gradually became friends with the Fauve artists, with whom he exhibited at the famous Salon d'Automne in 1905. Laprade stayed in Italy and the Netherlands between 1905 and 1907. In 1907, he participated in the Salon de la Libre Esthétique in Brussels and in 1913 in the Armory Show in New York. A founding member of the Salon des Tuileries, he exhibited there until his death in 1931. The most prestigious dealers of the time exhibited his works there on numerous occasions: Ambroise Vollard, BernheimJeune, Druet, Berthe Weill, Katia Granoff.
