Jean-Jacques Bosc (1777–1837) was a prominent shipowner and merchant from Bordeaux. Coming from a Protestant family, he participated in local and national political life under the Restoration and then the July Monarchy. An influential notable, he embodies the Protestant and commercial bourgeoisie of Bordeaux in the 19th century, marked by economic openness, civic engagement and loyalty to constitutional monarchical ideals. Homogeneous patina, scattered wear and chips, notably at the base and on the reverse. Monogram on the back partly erased M. Good general condition considering the fragility of large workshop plasters.
