(Indigenous restorations)
Circular shield made of thick skin, decorated with a central crest with radiating ribs and dotted with small bumps around the entire circumference. Several old indigenous repairs are visible, attesting to the shield's use.
The reverse side is rough and centered with a thick handle.
These shields were made from hippopotamus or sometimes buffalo skin. Selected stones and elongated elements were arranged hot on the ground according to the desired design. The cut-out piece of skin was placed over the composition and dried in the sun, taking on its relief. Some were then oiled or pigmented.
