18th Century Infantry And Cavalry Officer's Sword, 1788 Model

INFANTRY AND CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD. 18TH CENTURY. Model 1788

French guard with one branch and straight quillon. The pommel is made of a grilled and plumed pommel. Wooden knuckle covered with an intact double braided filigree in very good condition. Asymmetrical bivalve lyre-shaped plate (from 1805 the furnishers offered the symmetrical or asymmetrical shell folded down into a keyboard). Straight blade with two sides and fullers, in its original blue and gilt patterns. On the heel, on the back of the blade the Solingen cipher on a gilt background. On one of the sides the initials "I .C. B" for Johann and Clémens Boegel, active under Louis XVI (The "C" by the addition of flourishes resembles a "G" and the "J" is simplified by an "I"), and opposite a decoration of undulating striations. Presence of the tie. Black leather scabbard sewn. Brass chape with hook, brass snap of the same: An accident in its middle and towards the snap. A very beautiful officer's sword Mle 1788 reached us in an exceptional condition.
