"13th Century Saint, Poupée De Châsse, Limoges"
Magnificent shrine doll with a dark, almost black patina, with some traces of enamel. Her face and serene expression are the most beautiful we have seen so far. Formerly made in reliquary caskets (see photo 4), these appliques in the shape of doll-like figures were known in France as poupées.
