Two Small Romanesque Bronze Armor Appliques Circa 12th Century

Two small, very nicely detailed armor appliques of Romanesque times

1. Lion: with gold remains, diameter: 13 mm
2. Blanche of Castile, diameter: 16 mm The castle is probably a reference to Blanche of Castile. Blanche of Castile (March 4, 1188 – November 27, 1252) was Queen of France by marriage to Louis VIII. She was regent twice during the reign of her son Louis IX: during his minority from 1226 to 1234, and during his absence from 1248 to 1252.
