Marcel Marlier, Belgian painter and illustrator born in 1930 and died in 2011, achieved immense success in 1954 by publishing the adventures of Martine, translated into forty languages and selling 100 million copies. The album Martine and the Little Rats of the Opera was released in 1972. Here we have a beautiful summary of this work since it is animated by sixteen characters in action. Small format and great mastery... This very natural gouache reaches us in good condition with fresh colors and characters full of life fifty years later. Signed M.Marlier lower left.
