MUKHALA FLINTLOCK rifle with gold damascene work, dated 1856 and signed
Morocco, 19th century
Wood, steel, silver, bone, and gold
Total length: 164 cm; barrel length: 126.5 cm

Flared then round barrel with upper band; flared muzzle, slightly blunted. Front sight and rear sight. Decorated on the first half and on the muzzle with gold damascene scrollwork. Three large hallmarks stamped and dated 1273 and signed Muhammad ad DUKTÛR. Breech block decorated in suite.
Flintlock, with hammer jaw and pan decorated with gold damascene.
The trigger guard and counter-lock screws are also decorated with gold damascene work.
Long barrel mount (joints and missing parts) Bone butt plate, engraved with desert motifs.
Four silver capucines, cut and openwork.
Wooden ramrod.
