Gilded brass mountings.
Long cap tail, ovoid with a small dome serving as a rivet button.
Three secondary branches extend from the top of the jointing arch.
Badge cut out with the crowned Arms of France on a background of flags and oak and laurel branches, fixed to the secondary branches.
Wooden handle covered with shagreen, filigree with twisted brass and copper wires.
Quillon cut out in fleur-de-lis and hallmarked.
Blade with hollow edge, marked on one side: ‘GARDES DU CORPS DU ROI’ (King's Bodyguards) framed by two fleurs-de-lis and a trophy, the second side features a sun, the crowned Arms of France and a trophy.
The back of the blade is signed: "Manufacture Royale de Klingenthal Coulaux Frères ".
Steel sheet scabbard, marked: ‘VAISSETE 1820’, two ring loops, cap engraved with gilded acanthus leaves.
Thumb strap with ragged edges in gold thread.
