"Lacquer And Bamboo Pedestal Table"
Lacquer and bamboo two-tiered side table or serving table. These authentic lacquer and bamboo side tables or serving tables were made in Japan, mainly in specialized workshops, and then exported to Europe. Although replicas were produced in Europe, the original pieces remain valuable testaments to 19th-century Japanese craftsmanship. The export of lacquer and bamboo furniture was relatively common in the 19th century, especially during the Meiji period (1868–1912). Japan sought to promote its craftsmanship and meet the growing demand in Europe for exotic and refined objects. However, production was limited by the craftsmanship capabilities and manufacturing techniques of the time.
