"Document From 1838"
We are offering for sale this rather exceptional and unusual document. It is a derogation so that two people from the same family could marry, while at that time it was prohibited. It concerns Mr. Jean Maître Chaumette and Lady Marie Serre his sister-in-law. It was therefore in the name of King Louis Philippe on October 12, 1838, King who reigned from 1830 to 1848. Attached to this document is a 12.5 cm wax disc with the effigy of the King. For the record, Mr. and Mrs. Chaumette (since they married) owned the former Verts stores which became the Printemps stores, as well as the Bordelais cinemas. They had no children and in the descendants, there was a niece who married a certain Adrien MARQUET who became mayor of Bordeaux in the 1930s under the SFIO label. We won't divulge the rest. This 1838 document is contained in an original, circular iron box the size of the wax disc bearing the effigy of King Louis Philippe. Weight: 260 g. Free shipping for France (E25).
