Johnston 1804 – 1871
La vie de Johnston a été consacrée à la géographie, ses dernières années à ses aspects pédagogiques en particulier. Ses services ont été reconnus par les principales sociétés scientifiques d’Europe et d’Amérique.
En 1862 il était un membre fondateur de la Société Météorologique d’Écosse. Il a reçu un doctorat honorifique (LLD) en 1865.

Johnston 1804 – 1871 Johnston's life was devoted to geography, his later years to its pedagogical aspects in particular. His services were recognized by the principal scientific societies of Europe and America. In 1862 he was a founding member of the Meteorological Society of Scotland. He received an honorary doctorate (LLD) in 1865.
