Statue Nkisi Nkondi Maloango African Primitive Arts, Kongo People, Angola Congo

Nkisi Nkondi statue of the Kongo people, Congo Basin / Angola in Central Africa, covered with nails and iron blades, mouth open, right hand in the air with a closed fist, probably originally to brandish a spear.
A cavity on the stomach is closed by a skin of animal origin.
The wood has surface wear and various cracks, the nails and metal blades have more or less advanced oxidation.
Some elements are made brittle by oxidation at the core which may indicate a relatively old dating, these pieces of metal could not have been struck to be inserted after oxidation due to their fragility, nor could they have been chemically oxidized after insertion, the state of their surface not being uniform.
The base in which the lower limbs are inserted is less old than the statue.
