Art Nouveau Naturalist Indochinese Sideboard Late 19th Century In Iron Wood

Indochinese sideboard commissioned by a French administrator based in Hanoi in the years 1880 to 1905.
He, an admirer of the Art Nouveau style and inspired by Indochinese culture, drew the plans.
The sideboard, made entirely of particularly massive ironwood and carved in strong relief, which explains its significant weight, is structured around six uprights forming a base representing bundles of bamboo flared at the top in the manner of the naturalist creations of Louis Majorelle.
On the facade, four doors representing scenes with people, wooded landscapes and birds.
These are topped with 3 drawers integrated into the upper rail, all carved with scrolls of flowering foliage.
