This pistol created in 1837 will equip "La Royale" from 1838.
Length of the weapon 29.5 cm.
Round barrel with two lateral sides before the breech tail, smooth, without sighting system.
Under the muzzle a tenon supports 2 mobile rounded flanges in which slides the ramrod (nail head) making it integral with the weapon.
Length of the barrel: 15.1 cm. Caliber: 15.2 mm.
Length of the barrel with the breech tail: 20.8 cm. On the breech tail "Mle 1837".
Walnut frame.
Cap, trigger guard and capucine in brass.
Steel belt hook fixed to the iron counter-plate. Rear plate engraved "Mre Rle de Châtellerault". On the cap. “MR” for “Marine Royale” and the naval anchor.
On the cap, the counterplate, the capucine and the trigger guard… The hallmark (In an oval the “crowned L”.) of the general controller of weapons of the Manufacture Royale de Châtellerault Eugène Loiseau from 1834 to 1845.
A superb piece in very good condition.
