"Pastel Portrait Of Louis De Noailles Noble Nobility 19th Century "
Portrait of Louis de NOAILLES. This is a pastel from the end of the 19th century. This character's name is inscribed on the bottom of the frame: Louis de NOAILLES. Louis de NOAILLES was born in Versailles on April 21, 1713 and died on August 22, 1793 of natural causes, escaping the fury of the revolution. He was very close to Louis XV who greatly appreciated his human and intellectual qualities. He married Catherine de Cossé-Brissac and they had several children. He was Marshal of France, Knight of Saint-Louis and Knight of the Holy Spirit. This pastel is signed in pencil at the bottom right but I cannot decipher it. This pastel is "in its own juice", presented in a palmette frame, from the Restoration period, in gilded and stuccoed wood, in excellent condition. A bubble glass protects the pastel without touching it. It has a very small inclusion at the level of the character's neck, but it is not bothersome.
