"Portrait Of A Young Woman As Diana, 18th Century, Noble Nobility, Allegory, Louis XV, Louis XVI"
Portrait of a young woman as Diana (Artemis), of very good quality, in the style of the allegorical portraits of Jean-Marc NATTIER who portrayed many women of the nobility as Diana the huntress. She wears the characteristic attributes of Diana: the arrow, the quiver, the crescent moon above the head and the leopard skin. This painting is a little naughty, this young woman letting a bit of her breast be seen under the light white fabric. There is a Japanese side with the pin in her hair which recalls those with which Japanese women adorn their chignons, and her gaze with slightly slanted eyes. The painting is not signed but, the quality of execution of the complexion, the modeling of the face and the delicacy of the hand indicate a talented painter, certainly follower or student of Jean-Marc NATTIER. This painting was previously relined. It is in excellent condition, presented in a gilded wooden frame. Additional photos on request.
