"Puiforcat Pair Of Solid Silver Salt Cellars In The Louis XVI Transition Style, Pompadour Model"
Pair of 4 salt cellars in solid silver by Puiforcat. From the late 19th century, their Louis XV - Louis XVI Transition style decoration is very neat, as one would expect from the prestigious goldsmith, particularly at the end of the century when goldsmithing techniques, more advanced than in the 18th century, made it possible to surpass the quality and finesse of the original models of the previous century. The interior of the work is in vermeil (covered with a layer of fine gold). Puiforcat has published several collections, with a specific name to identify them, which decline a decoration on cutlery, but also shaped pieces, jug, dishes and salt cellars. These salt cellars are the "Pompadour" model whose shells and knots present on the handles of the salt spoons are the same as on the cutlery of this decoration. (see our ad for a cutlery set https://www.gslr-antiques.com/admin/site/copier-texte-brut.php?id=2133) The salt cellars are matched with Baccarat crystal verrines as well as spoons in solid silver and vermeil. Each salt cellar bears the Minerva 1st title hallmark (silver alloy .950 / 1000) and the hallmark of one of the most prestigious French silversmiths, Emile Puiforcat. They are in excellent condition; no accidents; the vermeil is fresh. No accidents, no shocks. Length: 6.5cm Width: 4.2cm Height: 4cm Net weight of silver: 52g
