"Set Of Six Venetian Lounge Chairs"
Rare set of six carved, lacquered and painted wooden lounge chairs, seat upholstered with original straps, covered with a later fabric. The scalloped and openwork backrest, decorated in its center with a cartouche painted with red scrolls on an ivory background. Curved armrests, decorated with painted motifs. Arched legs at the front, connected by a turned spacer. Original painted decoration, in vermilion red on a light background. Seats upholstered with their original straps, later covered with a printed textile. Venetian production from the end of the 17th century, Baroque period when VENICE developed refined furniture, characterized by the early use of polychrome lacquer, supple and curved shapes and the primacy of painted decoration over sculptures. These chairs adorned the salons of Venetian palaces, aligned along the walls or around conversation areas. This model is found preserved at the PALAZZO CA REZZONICO, in VENICE. Seat height: 40 cm
