Mempo Samurai Half Mask - Edo Period (1603-1868).
JAPAN - Edo period (1603-1868). Samurai half-mask called "Mempo" in wrought iron. Pronounced chin, mobile nose, upper lip highlighted with cinnabar red lacquer, full white horsehair moustache, pierced nostrils, sweat hole under the chin. Red lacquered interior (slight damage on the sides). Four-step "Yodare-kake" (Gorgein) in black lacquered wrought iron (slight damage) and blue and orange silk braiding. Dimensions: 24 x 19 x 10 cm. Dimensions with base: 40 x 16 x 16 cm.
