Biography:
Georges-Frédéric Rötig is a French painter and illustrator born in Le Havre on October 1, 1873 and died in Paris on August 20, 1961 . He was a student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studios of Jules Lefebvre, Jean-Pierre Laurens and Benjamin-Constant. He received several awards at the Salon des Artistes Français, including the Rosa-Bonheur Prize in 1903 and the Rosa-Bonheur Prize in 1913.
Georges-Frédéric Rötig's work is that of an animal painter. His models are deer, does, roe deer, wild boars, pheasants, partridges, but also animals living in the mountains or in the moors (chamois, elk, etc.), finally wild animals (lions, for example) and familiar or domestic animals (frogs, dogs). Several of his paintings are kept in public collections, at the André-Malraux Museum of Modern Art in Le Havre, at the Picardy Museum in Amiens, at the Cambrai Museum and at the Alphonse-Georges-Poulain Museum in Vernon.
