Biography:Pierre Eugène Montezin was born in 1874 in Paris. The son of a decorator, he was introduced to art at a very early age and studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Montezin began his career working as a decorator, but quickly turned to painting.Artistic Beginnings and InfluencesEarly in his career, Montezin was influenced by the Impressionists, particularly Claude Monet. He was also inspired by the landscapes of the French countryside and spent much time painting outdoors. Recognition and Success Montezin's talent was quickly recognized and he exhibited for the first time at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1903. He won a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1937 and was made a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur in 1923. Montezin continued to paint until his death in 1946. He left behind a significant body of work that demonstrates his love of nature and his mastery of light and color. Today, he is considered one of the greatest French Post-Impressionist painters.
