José Belon (born Marie François Joseph Belon in Alès on October 15, 1861 and died on December 14, 1927 in Paris) is a French painter and draftsman. Very beautiful impressionist touch for this elegant couple contemplating the sea created by José Bélon (circa 1890/1900) This very beautiful work is signed lower left and is presented under glass in a beautiful gilded frame. The dimensions of the work without frame are 43 x 38 centimeters Biography A painter with a confident and delicate line, José Belon moved to Paris at a very young age and exhibited subjects inspired by the capital or his hometown at the Salon des Artistes français, before becoming a student at the Beaux-arts. He also exercised his talent as an illustrator for several books and periodicals such as Le Petit Journal, Gil Blas, Annales politiques, sociales, littéraires et artistiques, L'Illustré de poche, L'Intransigeant, La Presse, Le Monde illustré... He produced several posters (Moulin Rouge, Lamalou-les-Bains, Saint-Raphaël-Quinquina, etc.). He made many stays in the Gard where, with his elder brother, Albin, he proposed in 1909 the creation of the Uzès Museum (now the Georges Borias Municipal Museum). José Belon and his friends offered several of their works. Until his death, he donated various paintings of his own to the museum. His painting Summer Evening on Boulevard Montparnasse (1890) was restored by the Uzès Museum in 2004.
