SMALL GU VASE IN WHITE NEPHRITE JADE, China, Qing dynasty, Qianlong period (1736-1795) Finely chiseled with two taotie masks in light relief, the flared neck and foot decorated with archaic cicada wings. The body is decorated with two articulated rings. The lid is topped with a lotus flower sculpture. Dimensions 9.8 x 5 x 2 cm. Provenance: French private collection, formed at the end of the 19th century.
