An antique sterling silver cup by George Nathan & Ridley Hayes, Chester 1900, directly inspired by the celebrated Mycenaean “Vaphio Cup,” today in the Archaeological Museum of Athens.Decorated with a dramatic high-relief chased scene of bulls and herdsman, this museum-worthy interpretation demonstrates superb sculptural quality. The piece weighs 314 g of solid sterling silver, with an inscription to the base dated 1954.
