Rare old advertising plaque – Montplaisir Beer, Toulouse - Circa 1910 Magnificent painted wooden plaque of the famous Montplaisir Beer (superior beer, with guarantee band). Dimensions: 160 cm long x 18 cm wide Condition: very beautiful polychromy, original wrought iron fasteners still present, good general condition of conservation. This plaque was originally attached to the side of a Ford T pick-up. It comes from an attic near Toulouse, where the two headlights of the vehicle were also found (available for sale if someone wants to keep the integrity of the elements). According to family tradition, the ancestor owner was a salesman for the brand at the beginning of the 20th century. History of the Montplaisir Brewery (Toulouse, 1886-1977) Founded by the Stieber brothers in 1885, the brewery was established on rue Traversière-Montplaisir (now rue André Delieux). It successively became Brasserie L. Aunac & Cie (1902), then Grande Brasserie Montplaisir SA (1912). After 1950, it took the name Grandes Brasseries d'Oc before being bought in 1975 by SEB. Among its emblematic beers: Bière Montplaisir, Bock Montplaisir, Mars, Pils d'Oc, Impérator Montplaisir, Vivastar. A prestigious beer In 1910, Montplaisir was praised by the Toulouse Tourist Office as the most renowned beer in the Pink City. Two years later, its fame crossed regional borders: it won an award in London at a prestigious competition.
