Rare pair of "blue and white" porcelain (sometsuke) typical of the Japanese workshops of Arita (Kyushu) or Hizen. They have a slender shape with pedestal characteristic of presentation compote dishes (late Edo - early Meiji, 1850-1900). The deep blue decoration, typical of Saga ores (not industrially reproducible), is composed of complex motifs: floral interlacing (probably peonies/chrysanthemums) and geometric scrolls. Beautiful pearly reflection of the glaze (indication of wood firing). Origin: Japan - Arita. Period: Late Edo / Early Meiji. Dimensions: Height: 11.5 cm; Diameter: 14 cm.
