Early 19th Century Named "agurto", Drinking Horn, Silver Mount, Latin America
Curious little drinking horn circled in silver, and certainly made from a ram's horn, early 19th century.
The silver mount bears the name "JUAN FERMIN 2d AGURTO" around the neck, and at the end, it is engraved with a cursive "E", accompanied by a square symbol.
The horn is very thin and translucent, barely 1 mm thick.
No hallmark is visible on the mount, a silver chain connects the neck to the end, and a flat cut at the base allows it to be placed. Engraved round and spiral motifs adorn the body of the object.
Its small dimensions suggest a birth or "communion" gift; the Agurto surname is found especially in Latin America, notably in Chile...
Very good condition with logical traces of use, the object is waterproof.
Length: 12.5 cm; Width: 6 cm: Height: 10.6 cm
Weight = 134 grams
Extremely careful shipping in addition, to be defined according to destination.
