Italian Cabinet
Italian cabinet in ebony and blackened pear wood veneer with ivory inlay, depicting mythological scenes: The Triumph of Galatea in the upper part, the Birth of Venus in the lower part, after the 16th century paintings by Raphael at the Villa Farnese in Florence. The facade has eight detached twisted columns, framing five niches with Romanesque arches where there are statuettes of ancient figures in gilded bronze. It opens with four drawers and two doors revealing eight small drawers. At the top, a balcony with pilasters and a fire pot in gilded bronze. It rests on a later base in a twisted column joined by a spacer.
