"Rouen Faience, 18th Century: Oil Cruet Transformed Into An Inkwell At The End Of The 19th Century "
18th century objects had renewed success at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, when they began to be replaced for different functions. Thus, this early 18th century oiler body is found as an inkwell on a desk by the addition of silver-plated metal mounts. The body remains light, and is weighted with lead balls. It bears workshop marks underneath, as well as the label of the store that sold this object before the war of 14. Small accidents: a solder to be done on a lid, a missing glass cup, small chips on the earthenware, but the quality object remains very decorative
