"Sculpture By Christian d'Orgeix "
The Dancer or The Fork, large bronze in Hamburg (Rotherbaum). Metal sculpture with gold patina on a plaster base, height 20.2 x 4.2 x 4.2 cm. Signed on the base. This work was acquired from the artist and has a clear history. A small lack of gilding on the back. Christian de Thonel d'Orgeix, born December 18, 1927 in Toulouse, and died May 5, 2019 in Nîmes, is a French painter close to surrealism. Initially close to Albert Gleizes and his post-cubist compositions, his art moved towards surrealism in the late 1940s when he assisted Hans Bellmer and met the poet Anna de Noailles and Henri-Pierre Roché, the author of Jules et Jim. On the painter side, he is as familiar with Wols, Richard Oelze and Konrad Klapheck as he is with Sam Francis, Roberto Matta and Simon Hantaï. His work on the body is reminiscent of the research of Francis Bacon.
