"Desk. 19th Century."
American desk from the Plazanet house in Bordeaux (France). 19th century second part. Cylinder secretary of the ministerial type called "American" comprising on either side of the crotch 2 boxes: the one on the left is composed of 4 drawers and the one on the right of a cupboard (front with 3 false drawers) and a drawer. Each box is topped with a removable shelf. The writing desk is covered with a slatted panel that slides inside the body, behind the step. The latter is composed of storage, drawers, pen holders, pencil holders... Polished cast iron handle (slightly different). Key available for the box and the small drawer of the step. Traces of use. Restored in our workshops. Can be dismantled into 5 parts. Furniture in oak and various woods. Very good condition. Founded in 1849, the Plazanet house was a furniture manufacturer located on Place Pey-Berland in Bordeaux. Signed "Plazanet Bordeaux" on 2 lock entries and "Patented Corbin Cabinet Lock 1884" on the lock of the slatted panel.
