Large Giltwood Wall-mounted Console, With A Carved And Polychrome Wooden Cherub’s Head, 17th C
The console is composed of two parts:
A wide top with a carved border, the gold leaf gilding showing a beautiful patina with slight craquelure.
A lower section in the form of a carved cherub’s head, with finely executed polychromy, ending in a cluster of stylised fruits, also with fine gilding.
Sold as is, with some splits, losses and traces of woodworm (treated with Xylophene).
