Elegant French oval hat box made of bentwood, dating from the mid-19th century. Originally intended for transporting hats or personal accessories, it features refined craftsmanship: thin steam-bent wooden walls, small nailed joints, and iron reinforcements on the sides.
The lid is covered in black leather, a stylish detail that once served to protect and embellish the box. The interior is lined in original light green paper.
On the front, a handwritten ink label reads:
“Monsieur Vincent Honoré, Marseille – chaisier-fabricant, Meublier tapissier”
A rare and charming detail that connects the piece to a furniture maker active in Marseille in the 19th century.
