"Small Footstool Or Stool, Upholstered With An Aubusson Fragment, Late 18th-early 19th Century"
Small footstool or stool with four straight tapered legs ending in an ogee, the connecting dice without ornaments with curved ends, the belt also smooth. It is upholstered with a fragment of greenery tapestry, probably Aubusson from the 17th or 18th century. Some snags. Note one restored foot at the top, the part of a dice reattached. The photographs document all this. This small piece of furniture is, however, very solid and stable and there is no play between the pieces. A work probably provincial from the end of the 18th or the beginning of the 19th century, which effectively and rustically sums up the combined spirit of the Louis XVI and Directoire styles. Its small dimensions make it a very versatile object with great charm.
