18th Century Animal Scene Oil On Canvas

A bucolic animal scene from the 18th century. In a landscape setting, the animals are painted with a strong, expressive presence. Note the dominant presence of the horse, which gives the impression of protecting the other animals (goat, sheep, ram). This scene, by its execution, could be reminiscent of the animals of the nativity scene found in Flemish painting of the 17th century.
