"Portrait Of A Lady Of High Condition "
Beautiful portrait painted on wood of a lady of high condition, richly dressed in black wearing fine white lace on the collar and cuffs. She wears a bracelet, a necklace and earrings made of valuable pearls. The hairstyle in curls surrounding the face reminds us of the feminine fashion under the reign of Louis XIII and Louis XIV in France although this painting is rather from the Hispano-Flemish school. The face is fine and pleasant. We can see a boat in the distance which could make us think that this young lady is the wife or daughter of a rich Flemish shipowner. This portrait was made on fir wood and richly framed in carved wood and gilded with gold leaf from the 17th century. On the back we notice two wax seals, possible marks of belonging to one or more successive collections.
