Beautiful work by the Cannes painter Louis Pastour which represents washerwomen under the bridge of Sospel in the Alpes-Maritimes. We can also see chickens on the banks of the river.
The artist uses a palette of bright colors, perfectly succeeding in reproducing with its small touches of color the power of the light of a summer day in the South of France.
Worker by day and student in the evening classes at the School of Decorative Arts in the city of Nice then Paris, he exhibited for the first time at the age of 45. In 1902, he founded with a group of workers passionate about art: the Association of Fine Arts of Cannes of which he was the general secretary. Through this association, the region's painters are highlighted by an annual exhibition.
A painter of light with a total mastery of colors, Louis Pastour uses the knife technique to bring his works to life.
Recognized by critics as a poet painter because of the poem names they give to his works: Fête de soleil, Reflets d'or, Gloire au matin …
